What is ISO 7752-5 about?  

ISO 7752-5 discusses about Control layout and characteristics of Cranes. ISO 7752-5 establishes the arrangement, requirements, and direction of movement of the basic controls for traveling, traversing, slewing, cab movement, and load hoisting and lowering operations for all cab-operated, overhead traveling cranes and portal bridge cranes, as defined in ISO 4306-1 and ISO 4306-5.

Why should you use ISO 7752-5?  

During crane operations, it’s important that the basic controls should be located within easy reach of the crane operator. By using ISO 7752-5 the manufacturers can design cranes where operators have easy access to the controls, which helps them function more efficiently.  

ISO 7752-5 shows how cabin controls, remote control, and radio control, should be arranged around and in front of the operator. A proper arrangement of controls will ensure the operator won’t have any confusion during crane operations. 

What’s changed since the last update?  

BS ISO 7752-5:2021 cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 7752-5:1985), which has been technically revised. 

The main and minor changes compared to the previous edition are as follows: 

  • In the Scope, "cab driving" has been changed to "cab movement" 
  • The word “driver” has been changed to "operator" to reflect the terminology used in ISO 7752-1 
  • New terms and definitions have been added
