What is BS EN 10132 standard about?
BS EN 10132 specifies the technical delivery conditions for cold rolled narrow steel strips made of non-alloy and alloy steel grades in the form of coils and cut lengths in rolling widths less than 600 mm.
NOTE: BS EN 10132 This document does not cover:
- Cold rolled uncoated low carbon steel narrow strip for cold forming
- Cold rolled steel flat products with higher yield strength for cold forming
Who is BS EN 10132 standard for?
BS EN 10132 on Cold rolled narrow steel strip for heat treatment is useful to industries such as household appliances, packaging and the automotive industry. Specific users are:
- Manufacturers of cold-rolled steel strip
- Suppliers of non-alloy and alloy steel-grades
- OEMs
Why should you use BS EN 10132 standard?
Cold rolled steel is ideal for applications where precision is necessary.
BS EN 10132 assists the user to carry out heat treatment on cold-rolled narrow steel strips by providing information on the manufacturing process, required chemical composition and mechanical properties, surface characteristics, decarburization process and spheroidisation of carbides process.
BS EN 10132 gives information on inspection methods, inspection documents, sampling and testing which helps the user to inspect the product according to the requirements.
Information on surface protection, coiling, packaging, and marking is also provided in BS EN 10132 which is beneficial for users to prevent the product from corrosion and helps them to identify the product easily.
As the buyer of BS EN 10132, you will be able to deliver high-quality cold-rolled steel strips for your intended product/service. With a specified minimum level of decarburization, you can avoid any perpetual weakness in the surface of the metal and reduce shear strain.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN 10132:2021 supersedes BS EN 10132-1:2000, BS EN 10132-2:2000, BS EN 10132-3:2000 and BS EN 10132-4:2000, which are withdrawn. The main changes include:
- The four parts of the previous edition were merged to one standard EN 10132
- Following steel grades were added: Steel grades for quenching and tempering C25E, 20mnb5, 27mncrb5-2, 50crmo4, Steels grades for springs C80S, 75Cr1, 95Cr1, 58crv4, 68crnimo3-3, steel grade C25E was added since it could replace C22E in future
- The mechanical properties of the steels for quenching and tempering and of the spring steels were partially updated
- The requirements concerning the surface characteristics were completely revised
- Standard is completely editorially revised
