Flow properties represent the ability of the powders to be handled and have a great influence on powder storage and transportation, fluidization, spraying process, and even surface performance, which is a vital property of powder coatings.  

ISO 8130-5 provides you with a method to determine the flow properties of powders. The results obtained by the method in ISO 8130-5 are influenced by the composition of the coating powder, its density, particle size distribution, and particle shape, together with the tendency of the particles to agglomerate and to accept a charge. 

What’s changed since the last update?  

BS EN ISO 8130-5:2021 supersedes BS EN ISO 8130-5:2010, which is withdrawn. BS EN ISO 8130-5:2021 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN ISO 8130-5:2010. These include: 

  • The scope has been revised editorially 
  • Annex A has been deleted 
  • Clause 3 on terms and definitions has been added 
  • Requirements for test temperature and humidity have been introduced 
  • The text has been editorially revised, and the normative references have been updated.
