BS EN 10036 is a European standard that discusses the gravimetric method after combustion in the steam of oxygen for the chemical analysis of ferrous materials. Ferrous metals such as cast and wrought iron or carbon steel are known for their tensile strength and durability. 

BS EN 10036 specifies a gravimetric method for the determination of total carbon in steels and irons after combustion in a stream of oxygen. The method applies to carbon contents equal to or greater than 0.1 % (m/m).
