What is ISO 13007‑6 about ?

ISO 13007‑6 is the sixth part of a multi-series of international standards. ISO 13007‑6 specifies the evaluation of conformity and the classification and designation of all bonded sheet waterproofing products beneath ceramic tiling.

ISO 13007‑6 provides the terminology concerning the products and specifies the test methods and the values of performance requirements for bonded sheet waterproofing products associated with tile adhesives.

Note: ISO 13007‑6 applies to all bonded sheet waterproofing membranes that are used beneath ceramic tiling for internal and external tile installations on walls and floors.

Note: ISO 13007‑6 does not address crack isolation, decoupling, sound control, thermal properties, or any aspect of membranes apart from waterproofing.

Who is ISO 13007‑6 for ?

ISO 13007‑6 on ceramic tiles is useful for:

  • Manufacturers of ceramic tiles used for ceilings, floors, and walls

Why should you use ISO 13007‑6

A bonded sheet waterproofing membrane is a single- or multi-component waterproofing membrane applied as a preformed sheet in a uniform layer or layers, beneath ceramic tiling in such a manner as to be bonded to the substrate as well as the tile.

ISO 13007‑6 provides general requirements, classification and designation of the bonded sheet waterproofing membrane products and their fundamental and optional characteristics that may be required for special service conditions.

ISO 13007‑6 describes the test methods for bonded sheet waterproofing products including test sample, test condition, test materials and apparatus used for the testing on the test specimen. Also, shows the typical arrangement for determining water permeability.

ISO 13007‑6 explains the adhesion test, its type and commercial designation of the tile adhesive used, water permeability and water vapour permeance.

Overall, these test methods let you manufacture ceramic tiles with bonded sheet waterproofing products to improve the adhesion and durability of the bond between the substrate and the membrane.
