What is ISO 10545-4 about?
ISO 10545-4 is the fourth part of the series of documents that specifies a test method for determining the modulus of rupture and breaking strength of all ceramic tiles.
Who is ISO 10545-4 for?
ISO 10545-4 on modulus of rupture and breaking strength of ceramic tiles is relevant to:
- Manufacturers and suppliers of ceramic tiles
- Civil engineers
- Product engineers
- Contractors and architects
- Construction industry
Why should you use ISO 10545-4?
ISO 10545-4 is beneficial to test the breaking load, breaking strength, and modulus of rupture and thickness of a tile by applying force at a specified rate to the centre of the tile. The calculation of breaking strength and modulus of rupture, denoted by S and R respectively, is a helpful parameter for the manufacturer of ceramic tiles to ensure of dynamic materials, thereby increasing resistance and durability in construction projects.
ISO 10545-4 also provides an accurate number of area and work size thickness of tile by using the various specimen test method.
ISO 10545-4 will be your one-stop guide to ensure durability of ceramic tiles as per the need of the specified application. You will also be able to enhance product development processes for your business.
What’s changed since the last update?
ISO 10545-4:2019 supersedes ISO 10545-4:2014 which is withdrawn. This is the fourth edition that replaces the third edition, with the following changes:
- Test specimens are tested in different format sizes according to their work size thickness that can be minor or greater/equal than 7,5 mm
- The minimum number of the specimen to be tested has been changed.
