ISO/IEC 10373-1 is the first part of an international multi-series standard that covers cards and security devices for personal identification.
ISO/IEC 10373-1 describes the test methods for characteristics of identification cards according to ISO/IEC 7810 and other standards, such as those listed in the Introduction.

What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO/IEC 10373-1:2020 supersedes BS ISO/IEC 10373‑1:2006+A1:2014, which is withdrawn. BS ISO/IEC 10373-1:2020 includes some technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
- Three electrostatic discharge tests and the mechanical strength of contacts have been added
- The ultraviolet light and static magnetic fields tests have been removed
- Figures, tables, and Notes have been revised to facilitate understanding of the tests
- Address for the availability of optical reference (ORM7810) media has been changed
- Test methods have been refined and relaxed where technically appropriate
