ISO/IEC 15693-2 is the second part of an international multi-series standard that deals with cards and security devices for personal identification.
ISO/IEC 15693-2 specifies the nature and characteristics of the fields to be provided for power and bi-directional communications between vicinity coupling devices (VCDs) and vicinity cards (VICCs).
ISO/IEC 15693-2 is intended to be used in conjunction with other parts of the ISO/IEC 15693 series.
Note: ISO/IEC 15693-2 does not preclude the incorporation of other standard technologies on the card as described in Annex A.

Contactless card standards cover a variety of types as embodied in close-coupled cards, proximity cards, and vicinity cards. These are intended for operation when very near, nearby and at a longer distance from associated coupling devices, respectively.
ISO/IEC 15693-2 defines the parameters for identification cards and the use of cards for international interchange. It defines the electrical characteristics of the contactless interface between a vicinity card and a vicinity coupling device. The interface includes power and bi-directional communications.

It gives you several modes that have been defined to help you meet different international radio regulations and different application requirements.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO/IEC 15693‑2:2019 supersedes BS ISO/IEC 156932:2006, which is withdrawn. The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
