What is ISO 19432-1 about?
ISO 19432 discusses portable, hand-held, internal combustion engine-driven construction machinery and equipment.
ISO 19432-1 is a type-C standard as stated in ISO 12100.
ISO 19432-1 is the first part of the series that specifies safety requirements and measures for their verification for the design and construction of portable hand-held internal combustion engine-driven cut-off machines that are intended to be used by a single operator in the cutting of construction materials.
ISO 19432-1 deals with all the significant hazards and hazardous situations that are relevant to cutting machinery when they are used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer.
ISO 19432-1 also specifies methods for the elimination or reduction of hazards that are arising from their use and specific information on safe working practices to be provided by the manufacturer.
ISO 19432-1 applies only to those machines that are designed purposely for use with a rotating, bonded- abrasive, and super-abrasive cut-off wheel that have a maximum outer diameter of 430 mm, center-mounted on and driven by a spindle shaft where the top of the wheel rotates away from the operator.
Note 1: Under ISO 19432-1 portable, hand-held, internal combustion engine-driven cut-off machines are called “cut-off machines”.
Note 2: Under ISO 19432-1 cut-off wheel specifications are not covered.
Note 3: ISO 19432-1 does not apply to machines that are manufactured before the date of its publication.
