What is PD CLC 50131-5-1 about?

PD CLC 50131-5-1 is part 5-1 of a multi-series standard that covers requirements for wired interconnection for I&HAS equipment located in supervised premises which ensures the safety and protection of alarm and intrusion systems.

PD CLC 50131-5-1 applies to interconnections between intrusion and hold-up alarm system components using specific or non-specific wired interconnections. The interconnected components are located within the supervised premises or mounted on the outside of the supervised premises.

Note 1: PD CLC 50131-5-1 does not apply to interconnections between components located within the same enclosure, or to interconnections between parts of an I&HAS component is covered by the relevant product standard.

Note 2: PD CLC 50131-5-1 does not define the physical requirements of the interconnection media.

Note 3: If there is no requirement in a detector standard to monitor a remote indication of detection input, this document does not apply to that particular interconnection.

Note 4: Interconnections using RF techniques (i.e., wire-free interconnections) are dealt with by EN 50131-5-3.

Who is PD CLC 50131-5-1for?

PD CLC 50131-5-1 on alarm and intrusion systems applies to -

  • Manufacturers of alarm and intrusion systems
  • Consultants of security systems
  • Installers and Maintainers in the electronic security sector

Why should you use PD CLC 50131-5-1?

PD CLC 50131-5-1 provides you with the terms used in the field of intrusion and hold-up alarm equipment using such interconnections and includes the requirements relevant to the equipment interfaces. An intrusion alarm system is a system whose aim is to monitor and detect unauthorized access to a building.

PD CLC 50131-5-1 provides you guidance on using wired connections that include dedicated bandwidth instead of having share with other users, fewer attacks of network traffic interruptions, and less susceptibility to interference and outages than wireless access points.

PD CLC 50131-5-1 benefits the manufacturers through a network intrusion detection system that monitors both inbound and outbound traffic on the network, as well as data traversing between systems within the network.

Guidance in PD CLC 50131-5-1 allows you to set up alarm and intrusion systems that are faster, more reliable, more secure, don’t suffer from interference.
