What is BS EN 3646-006 - Hermetic receptacles about ?

BS EN 3646-006 is a European Standard that defines the characteristics of hermetic jam-nut mounted receptacles in the family of bayonet coupling circular connectors, intended for use in an operating temperature range of – 65 °C to 175 °C or 200 °C continuous.

It applies to models defined in Table 4.

For plugs and protective covers, see EN 3646-008 and EN 3646-009 respectively.

Who is BS EN 3646-006 - Hermetic receptacles for ?

BS EN 3646-006 for hermetic receptacles applicable for:

  • Aerospace avionic electrical and fibre optic technology
  • Spacecraft and space products manufacturers
  • Aerospace and defence industries
  • Design engineers for hermetic receptacles
  • Quality control personnel for spacecraft products

Why should you use BS EN 3646-006 - Hermetic receptacles ?

Hermetic receptacles are high sealing and space-saving and are environment friendly as there is no lead content in it.

The guidelines given in BS EN 3646-006 helps you select the right receptacles as well as a connector as they improve the production process. If an electronic component fails, the failed component can be replaced when an electrical connector is installed.

As a design engineer, you can use the guidelines provided in BS EN 3646-006 to improve functioning and use of electrical connectors and receptacles. You also get greater flexibility while designing and integrating new products and composing systems with components as well.

BS EN 3646-006 is structured such that the necessary level of quality is achieved, consistently maintained, and the high reliability of the product assured. By adopting BS EN 3646-006, manufacturers can demonstrate the reliability of their products and build trust in their use throughout the aerospace supply chain.
