What is BS EN 2266-008- Aerospace series: Multicore UV laser printable jacketed cables about?

BS EN 2266-008 is the eighth part of a multi-series standard that covers the Aerospace series: multicore UV laser printable jacketed cables, ensuring stable operability in case of varying temperatures for the safety and protection of aerospace systems.

BS EN 2266-008 specifies the characteristics of UV laser printable multicore jacketed electrical cables for use in the onboard electrical systems of aircraft at operating temperatures between −55 °C and 200 °C. It shall also be possible to mark these cables by qualified compatible marking. These markings shall be in accordance with EN 3838.

BS EN 2266-008 covers terms and definitions, required characteristics, materials for construction, quality assurance, identification marking, packaging, labelling, and delivery lengths of electric cables.

Who is BS EN 2266-008- Aerospace series: Multicore UV laser printable jacketed cables for?

BS EN 2266-008 on the Aerospace series: multicore UV laser printable jacketed cables applies to:

  • Spacecraft and space products manufacturers
  • Aerospace products manufacturers
  • Testing agencies involved in the inspection of spacecraft and aerospace products
  • Quality control personnel for spacecraft products
  • Aeronautical engineers
  • Space researchers

Why should you use BS EN 2266-008- Aerospace series: Multicore UV laser printable jacketed cables?

Aerospace electrical cables sustain intense vibration during takeoff, flight, and landing, while also being subject to harsh environmental conditions. Cable faults cost money and create disruption, so there is an enormous demand for cable test techniques to ensure cables and joints are in good condition.

BS EN 2266-008 provides users guidance on quality assurance measurements that enables the implementation of approaches, techniques, methods, and processes designed for the aircraft electrical systems to be implemented correctly, ensuring risk reduction and prevention of electric failures.

With the adoption of BS EN 2266-008, users can develop and assess UV laser printable multicore jacketed electrical cables, ensuring safety, operability and longevity in aerospace applications.
