What is BS 6180 about?
BS 6180 is a British standard on barriers in and about buildings which covers its code of practice.
BS 6180 gives recommendations and guidance for the design and construction of temporary and permanent barriers to be provided in and about buildings and places of assembly, such barriers being positioned and designed to protect persons from various hazards and to restrict or control the movement of persons or vehicles.
Note: BS 6180 does not apply to areas or buildings designed for spectator sports, construction sites, or barriers to protect children younger than 24 months.

What’s changed since the last update?
BS 6180:2011 supersedes BS 6180:1999, which is withdrawn.
