What is BS EN 15158 - Fatigue of ceramics about?
BS EN 15158 is a European Standard that helps you in determining the fatigue level of advanced technical ceramics. BS EN 15158 specifies the conditions for the determination of constant-amplitude of load or strain in uniaxial tension/tension or in uniaxial tension/compression cyclic fatigue properties of ceramic matrix composite materials (CMCs) with fibre reinforcement for temperatures up to 2 000 °C under vacuum or a gas atmosphere which is inert to the material under test.
BS EN 15158 applies to all ceramic matrix composites with fibre reinforcement, unidirectional (1D), bi-directional (2D), and tri-directional (xD, where 2 < x ≤ 3).
Note: Test environments are specified which are intended to prevent the material under test from chemically reacting with them.
Who is BS EN 15158 - Fatigue of ceramics for?
BS EN 15158 on fatigue of ceramics is useful for:
- Entities involved in Ceramic Research
- Manufacturers and suppliers of Advanced technical ceramics
- Aerospace and Defence Industries
- Electrical and Communication Industry
- Electrical, Materials and Mechanical Engineers
- Manufacturers of Electrical Components and Parts
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use BS EN 15158 - Fatigue of ceramics?
Advanced technical ceramics have various mechanical properties that attract industries. These industries use advanced technical ceramics in several applications. However, with all these properties and advantages, ceramics may also face fatigue. Fatigue is a common structural change that ceramics go through when subjected to stressors and high temperatures. Determining fatigue can measure the reduction of mechanical properties of advanced technical ceramics.
BS EN 15158 includes details of the fatigue test machine and diagrams for maximum accuracy. BS EN 15158 also specifies the conditions for the test method in a user-friendly manner. BS EN 15158 walks users through a test method to verify the performance characteristics of ceramics which ensures their reliability. Use BS EN 15158 to determine accurate levels of fatigue and thereby build credibility and assure high performance and durability of advanced technical ceramics.
